Energy Procurement

We focus on what we are good at - our core business of energy procurement.

We have a standard and proven process that we follow for energy procurement on your behalf.

  • We analyse your historical usage data
  • We Prepare RFP documentation – both spreadsheets and Instructions to Tenderers.
  • We Synchronise the requested expiry date of your new Energy Supply Agreement to coincide with the expiry dates of other existing TUMG clients (a powerful buying group).
  • We Issue the RFP to the retailers in question and provide the interface with these retailers.
  • We Prepare and submit our Tender Report direct to you. This report comprises a commentary/recommendation plus the ‘supporting’ RFP Spreadsheet summarising each quote, breaking it down into the individual cost components and relating it to the existing cost status quo.
  • We Review the proposed Energy Supply Agreement submitted by the preferred energy retailer.
  • We Confirm your decision to all tenderers

Power Factor Correction

Power factor is a measure of your plant operating efficiency. Inductive loads such as motors, air conditioning and fluorescent lighting can contribute towards a poor power factor. Most network companies require the power factor to be 0.95 lag minimum.

Should you have a poor power factor then the installation of power factor correction equipment can reduce kVA demand (translating to direct cost savings) and potentially offsetting unnecessary and expensive upgrades. In addition, where lines companies charge for reactive power use this charge (KVAr) can be eliminated adding up to more savings. Additional benefits include reduced site losses (less energy used) and improved quality of supply that can have a beneficial impact on sensitive electronic equipment such as computers and PLC’s.

TUMG can help source suppliers of power factor correction equipment such as capacitor banks, coordinate an on site evaluation and provide recommendations
